Suzannah V. Evans' new book How Running Is (available from Guillemot Press) considers "the erotics of running and how it feels to live and move in a body." These experimental prose poems are charged with insight, a brilliant experiment in charting repetitive motion and energy, patience and momentum. Being more of a swimmer than a runner, I was delighted to find the first poem is titled "Running and Swimming".

I'll be reading with Suzannah V. Evans and Kate Potts to launch this wonderful book at Sands Film Studio, London on 10th September. I don't have any poems about running. Expect aquatic poems on surfing, sailing and other confluences of the human body with water - from Uneasy Piecesand Navigations.

I am honoured to be the guest speaker at the Double Crown Club dinner at the Savile Club on 13th October. This is a welcome invitation to consider what the book can be. I will discuss my work across print and poetry, how my ideas have been influenced by conversations with indigenous poets and artists in the Arctic, and highlight some of the wonderful printmakers and designers I’ve been fortunate to work with. 

Then on 30th October it’s the Creative Future Writers Awards Showcase at the Southbank Centre as part of London Literature Festival. Together with my fellow judges Courttia Newland and Kieran Yates I’m thrilled to introduce a cohort of brilliant writers who will read from their prizewinning work. That same evening, on the other side of the river, Dark Mountain will launch a new edition to which I have contributed an essay on the Eildon Hills. I hope to be at both events …
